Upcoming Classes and Workshops
We have 3 Classes and 5 Workshops now scheduled and ready for registration. This includes the Navajo Weaving Workshop. Lynda Teller Pete is also tentatively scheduled to give a community presentation on Monday July 29th at 7PM. Please watch for another newsletter in early June for more details.

Upcoming Classes
We have 3 classes beginning in late spring and early summer.
Rigid Heddle Weaving
Beth Fitzpatrick
Learn to weave using a rigid heddle loom. You will make a scarf during the class. The class meets Thursday mornings for 4 weeks and you may take the loom home between classes to practice.

Tapestry Weaving

Our active tapestry classes have been meeting throughout the spring with the next Beginning Tapestry class starting on May 8. This is the last Beginning class until the fall. The class meets on Wednesday afternoons.

Summer Weaving 101
Elizabeth Springett
This summer we are offering two 3-day beginning weaving classes. If you want to learn to weave but have not had the time, maybe these courses will fit your schedule. You will leave this class with your first handwoven dishtowel.

Paper Flower Folding
Leslie Mahler
Learn to make beautiful folded paper flowers - a sure sign of spring!
Saturday April 20
Zati Tapestry Mask
Based on Susan Merrill’s book, Zati - The Art of Weaving a Life, the mask is woven using basic tapestry techniques along with a pulled warp method of shaping.
Wednesday May 1
Summer and Winter
Jill Staubitz
Understand the tie ups, threading and treadling rules for the Summer and Winter weaving structure.
Thursday-Saturday, June 13-15
Navajo Weaving
Lynda Teller Pete
You will learn Navajo weaving techniques, make a small woven rug, and gain an appreciation of Navajo culture. Two workshops are scheduled:
Monday-Thursday July 22-25 Saturday-Tuesday July 27-30
Rep Weave
Luciane Coifman
Everything you wanted to know about rep weave including an exploration of a variety of materials, setts and techniques.
The RIWC has studio space where you can rent a loom for your personal use. In addition to using our looms, you can weave with other weavers, sharing ideas and solving problems together. The space is bright and open and air-conditioned in the summer. Come join our community of weavers.
Thanks to your donations and the help of several volunteers, the Library is ready for use. If you would like to borrow a specific book or journal, please send us an email and we are happy to share it with you if we have it.
